Can I use my disc recovery after I replace my hard drive on my HP laptop?
My computer has crashed on me a few times and I've ran the recovery discs. It's worked ok. But I did a diagonstics on the hard drive and it says my it's bad. So I need to replace it. I was wondering if I could you the recovery disc after I changed out the hard drive to get my OS back or did I need to purchase a new Windows program to be installed? Oh and my screen gets blurry all the words and stuff but I just noticed today that the color in the background it funky and shaky like. Would that be because of my hard drive? I'm done the diagnostics on the monitor as well but it came back fine. Can some one please help me?Thanks a bunch

Is it possible to gain access to data files on a compact disc that has been cut, or torn, into several pieces? Like between 3 10 pieces? From what I can see from this picture magnocd.com anatomy discpart.gifmuch of the disc is comprised of data files anyway. Just curious would that be possible?
Why would laptop boot after disc recovery?
I used the disc recovery, after a problem with the laptop. When formatting was complete, and I pressed ctrl alt del, I got the message that for my own safety windows will not open, there may been a power cut or hardware problem during format. Two weeks ago, on Friday the thirteenth, I fell into my school's pond by some catastrophic accident I wasn't pushed .To cut the long story short, all my belongings went into the water, including a relatively new less than one year old laptop. D When I took out my laptop's hard drive and connected it to another computer, all the data showed up inside and I could open and view documents.However, it stopped working after a few minutes and it hasn't been spinning ever since.My dad helped me to look around for solutions to recover my data, it seems that the professionals that do it would charge hundreds, even thousands for data recovery.Does anyone know of any 'home grown' method for me to get my hard drive working at least temporarily again?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
